20 Years of telent: From Telecommunications Service Provider to KRITIS Specialist for Networks, Cybersecurity, and Managed Services

Backnang, 10/06/2026 – For 20 years, telent has been designing resilient operational networks using wireless, fiber-optic, and wired systems for energy suppliers, transportation companies, government agencies, and industry as a vendor-neutral system integrator. In doing so, the company has evolved from a traditional telecommunications service provider into a specialized network, cybersecurity, and managed services provider for operators of critical infrastructure (KRITIS).

Deep technological roots: the history of telent
telent’s technological origins date back to 1954, when Telefunken established itself in Backnang. Decades followed under the names AEG, ANT Nachrichtentechnik, Bosch Telecom, and finally Marconi, until telent was introduced as the company name in 2006. After being part of the Euromicron Group, the Zech Group from Bremen took over in 2020. telent has always consistently focused on growth and expanding its market position. This is also reflected in the strategic evolution from a traditional telecommunications service provider to a comprehensive provider of networks, cybersecurity, and managed services.

“Over the past 20 years, we have evolved from a telecommunications service provider to a systems integrator for critical infrastructure. KRITIS operators need partners who view networks, cybersecurity, and managed services as a unified whole and possess a deep understanding of their customers’ operational processes. That is precisely our strength,” says Dr. Hendrik Tröger, Managing Director of telent.

Deep technological roots: the history of telent
As a systems integrator, telent supports complex communication infrastructures throughout their entire lifecycle—from design and planning through installation and commissioning to ongoing operation and maintenance. The range of services includes:

This also includes the migration from narrowband to broadband communication and interoperable network solutions that combine TETRA  (Terrestrial Trunked Radio) and DMR (Digital Mobile Radio).

· Cybersecurity and Managed Services: Comprehensive protection of IT systems and operational and production systems (Operational Technology, OT) in critical  infrastructures, ranging from preventive monitoring and vulnerability analyses to 24/7 operations in the Security Operations Center (SOC).

Outlook: Technology-agnostic for the next 20 years
